That is, a 1/8" or 5mm or whatever movement of the mpc, whether in (sharper) or out (flatter) will affect the high tones far more than the bottom end of the horn. The higher you go, the more distorted the effect of mpc position on tuning of the notes.Feb 19, 2009 · Captain Beeflat Discussion starter. 6614 posts · Joined 2003. #1 · Feb 19, 2009. I have come across a tenor "made in Italy", with LINDELL emblazoned on the bell. It dates from the 30s (stop on side E key and the G/G# trill) with the most outrageous Art Deco "pinky" platform. Possibly my favourite alto - wonderful rich tone and excellent intonation - but then it has been expertly set up. I paid less than $1,300.00 for it.

It was physically light, and the tone had a focused core with both a pop and a buzz to it (I'm new at describing these things). It felt great. I then tried some new pro tenors (Mauriat, Cannonball, Yamaha YTS-62) and was bored with the sound compared to the YTS-61. I preferred my Selmer USA TS-100 824xxx tenor to the new horns. The Serie III alto sax has been discontinued as of August 2021 due to the popularity of the Supreme! 'Tone Booster' is the correct term for so-called 'resonators', or sound reflectors installed on pads to prevent the pad leather from absorbing the sound, so anyone using that term to describe some other part of a sax would, right off the bat, be causing tremendous confusion.Sax on the Web Forum. 3.3M posts 75.8K members Since 2003 A forum community dedicated to saxophone players and enthusiasts originally founded by Harri Rautiainen. I don't think "vintage" vs. "Modern" is a date, but rather depends on design. To me the first modern sax would be the Selmer Mark 6/ Balanced Action (pretty much all modern saxophones are copies of either this or copies of Selmer's own Mark 6 copy, the Super Action 80).Benjamin Allen. 2005 posts · Joined 2014. #43 · Sep 2, 2020. The Yamaha 875EX II is definitely one of if not the finest alto saxophone made whether Wally argues such or not. The only disagreement I have with Wally is the quality of the V1 neck. But Wally did a damn fine job of putting an excellent video together.

The rails might be just slightly thicker on the S+, but I didn't notice any change in the feel of the piece. The only big difference I can see between the S and S+ is the chamber. As far as sound, the S+ definitely has more body in the tone to my ears, mainly in the upper range and altissimo. Play-ability felt just as good as my 6S.
